June Events in History
This month we have a contrast in our events:
• the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion / various countries' involvement in WWII
• the history of the FIFA World Cup on stamps
It would be nice to think that all conflicts between nations would be on the order of competitions on the pitch or some other athletic field, rather than on a beachhead or some other wartime battlefield. And so, as we post this June Stamp News Online, let’s keep in mind that we are able to enjoy the World Cup because of the sacrifices of those we honored on Memorial Day.
