The Best of Stamp News Publishing (SNP)
Greetings!
This month we bring together material from our own rich archives and the resources of the world wide web . . . a combination we had in mind when we launched StampNewsOnline in January 2011.
Continuing our Victorian Canada series, we meld the Dominion/Large Queens set from the 1944 Stamp Specialist Volume 12 with images of every stamp and an example of every usage.
Similarly, we supplement coverage of the U.S. Abraham Lincoln 1870 6¢ Bank Note era Postage Rates, from the Stamp Specialist 1943 Volume 11 with images of the usages–including one of my all time favorite covers.
For Fabulous Firsts, we are back with the German States, in this case Mecklenburg-Schwerin; and Landlocked countries continues with Carpatho-Ukraine and Czechoslovakia.
Still another text/images marriage is an extensive piece on Western Postal History and Pony Express. Much of that material comes from two 2020 USSN issues, and to give you a sampling of the range of material you can find in USSN, I included this month’s Rudy deMordaigle’s March 2023 USSN “Modern Varieties” study, a column that appears every month in USSN.
Enjoy!
