November - The Siege of Paris and
Harvest Time Stamps and Covers

The Siege of Paris Balloon Monte
On November 24, 1870, the Ville d’Orleans departed on a most unusual journey. The Orleans was one of the balloons that were used by the French during the Siege of Paris, and while it was not the first to carry mail—known to collectors as Balloon Monte—because of its epic flight we chose the Siege of Paris Balloon Monte for our November Display.
