Salvation Army Stamps and Covers

This month's historical event is the Founding of the Salvation Army in July 1865. Although its members adhere to the organization’s religious foundations, more important is that their assistance is available to everyone in need. Its founders Catherine and William Booth sought to bring salvation to the poor, destitute and hungry by meeting both their "physical and spiritual needs" through charity shops, shelters for the homeless, disaster relief and humanitarian aid to developing countries.
